LED lighting incentive lowers costs and improves working conditions.

MEMPHIS, TN — FedEx® Supply Chain recently completed a comprehensive lighting upgrade that delivered improved efficiency, working conditions, and safety. By participating in the LED incentive program offered by TVA EnergyRight and MLGW, FedEx Supply Chain is projected to save more than 1,754,348 kWh of electricity annually.

Before the upgrade, the 1 million square foot warehouse — which operates 24/7 — relied on 2,220 outdated linear T5, T8 and T12 fluorescent tubes that had dimmed over time and had become increasingly expensive to operate.

A lighting upgrade with a big impact.

The transition to modern T5, T8 and T12 LED retrofit tubes is expected to reduce energy use substantially, improve working conditions, and cut operational and energy costs by an estimated $150,000 annually. The project was supported by TVA EnergyRight and by Bowling Green Municipal Utilities with a $175,434 incentive.
