Bright minds, brighter savings with classroom LED upgrades.

MEMPHIS, TN — Established in 1893, Memphis University School is a college preparatory school for boys in grades 6-12, located in East Memphis. The school recently upgraded its indoor lighting with help from incentives from TVA EnergyRight and local power company partner, MLGW — dramatically improving the quality of life on campus. Before the upgrade, the school relied on 1,525 aging high bay fluorescent T8 tubes that had dimmed over time and had become increasingly costly to operate. With the help of a $6,100 Fast Track Lighting incentive from TVA, Memphis University School was able to replace their existing fluorescent fixtures with 4’ T8 LED tubes.

Illuminating energy-savings.

As a direct result of the upgrade, the school was able to improve learning conditions for its students while reducing energy consumption by 129,689 kWh and saving nearly $12,000 in annual energy costs.
