Demand Response programs — Like PowerFlex — help TVA access cleaner and more affordable power, on demand. Developed in collaboration with previous IP participants, our new and improved program was designed with your facility’s needs in mind. PowerFlex replaces our outgoing Interruptible Power (IP) program.

You can select the cumulative number of hours your operations can curtail energy use during capacity event calls.* When offered by TVA, you may temporarily increase your capacity block election.

Does your facility have what it takes?
PowerFlex is an emergency and capacity program designed for facilities already in the region, with a contracted load of at least 1 MW and a 500 kW annual average on-peak interruptible demand. Existing IP5 and IP30 participants are encouraged to transition to this program.
Event capacity options.
Flexibility is the name of the game with PowerFlex! You can select the cumulative number of hours your operations curtail energy use during capacity event calls. (Emergency calls are unlimited. Capacity call minimum is two hours, maximum is four hours.) When offered by TVA, you may temporarily increase your capacity block election.

Load Reduction Plans are customized to your business and your facility’s operations. Here are a few examples of the different ways participants opt to reduce their demand during a call:
- Shutting down rectifiers, chillers, electrolyzers, aerators, mixers, fans or other nonessential equipment.
- Curtailing energy-intensive processes.
- Lowering or shutting down furnaces, drives, water systems or air compression systems.
- Suspending nonessential chipping, crushing or grinding.
