What are some finance-eligible home energy upgrades?
When we say “home energy upgrades,” we’re referring to repair, replacement and installation of anything in your home that affects how energy (electricity or gas) is used. The more energy-efficient your home is, the lower your energy bills. Your local power company may offer financing on heating and cooling systems, heat pump water heaters and — and when combined with HVAC upgrades — insulation, air sealing, and duct sealing and insulation upgrades.
What home energy upgrades does financing cover?
Financing for home energy upgrades covers heating and cooling, heat pump water heaters and — when combined with HVAC upgrades — insulation, air sealing, duct systems and water heaters. Minimum loan of $2,500.
How can I find out if my local power company offers financing for home energy upgrades?

Is there a fee to apply?
There’s never a fee to apply for home energy upgrades financing.
Will my credit be run?
Yes, in order to see if you qualify for financing, we’ll need to run your credit; however, it will be a “soft” credit pull and should not impact your credit score or rating.
Is this a secured loan?
Yes. A home energy upgrade loan is a secured loan backed by the equipment installed on your property. As part of the upgrade loan process, a UCC‑1 fixture filing is completed and recorded. Fixtures are generally defined as items that are built into a property, like a new heat pump or air conditioning system. Once the loan is paid off, the filing is released.
Can I apply for more than one home energy upgrade at a time?
Absolutely. Maximum loan amount cannot exceed $20,000.
Who will complete the home energy upgrades?
Every home energy upgrade is performed by a member of TVA EnergyRight’s Quality Contractor Network. They are licensed and insured and have been trained to meet our quality standards. We also offer a free job inspection after the work is complete for additional peace of mind.
